My main research interests are mainly in the fields of educational and developmental psychology. I am interested in all aspects of education and in particular in the study of barriers and catalysts to improve the outcomes of all students. Much of my research focuses on exploring the disadvantages that many students face, the types of support that benefit them most, as well as their schools, and how this can build on existing support. I am a lecturer in psychology. I obtained my BA and PhD in Psychology at the University of Hull before returning to Hampshire to work as a research psychologist for the Department of Children`s Services at Hampshire County Council, which is mainly based in the Department of Educational Psychology. My role was to work with educational psychologists, school staff and other colleagues in Children`s Services to help them understand psychological research, evaluate their own work at a rigorous level, and plan future research and assessments based on their needs. My work included, among other things, a national anti-bullying survey, an evaluation of the impact of reading and mathematics interventions (e.B. paired reading) on children in the care of Al; the effectiveness of speech-language pathology services for kindergartens and emotional literacy interventions in schools for children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
