FAQS

Q:
Why should I hire you?
A:
With all the voice talent out there these days, you have to ask yourself this question, and believe me, it’s a fair one to ask. You wouldn’t buy a car without kicking the tires and checking it out, would you? The best answer is that you shouldn’t hire me without listening to my demos and, more importantly, my audition of your script.
Q:
What are your rates?
A:
While I do have a general rate structure for my work, each project is unique and your specific needs, budget and project timing requirements will determine the final cost.  If you will describe your script to me including the number of words, the expected audience size (national, regional or local), how your project will be used (radio, TV, company internal, internet, etc.), your project budget and your project deadline, I’ll be happy to determine whether I can work within your budget and time constraints and, if so, to provide a quote for your consideration.
Q:
How long will it take?
A:
That depends on the size and complexity of your project. I don’t like to rush jobs because I want to ensure that I give my clients the very best product I can. Normally, I estimate a turnaround of 24 hours from initiation of the project for most of the work I do (with longer narrations over 5 minutes being the exception; I wouldn’t want to try and record something the size of a book in a single day). If however, your project needs an unusually quick turnaround, let me know and I’m sure I can find a way to meet your needs.
Q:
What if I want you to change something in your recording?
A:
If you aren’t happy with the delivery, want a different approach or emphasis, etc., a re-read is not a problem and I will provide it at no additional charge. Re-reads based on your script revisions may incur an additional charge of 25% to 50% of the original quote depending upon the length and difficulty of the revisions. I will advise you and request your approval regarding any additional costs before proceeding with the revisions.
Q:
What types of payment do you accept?
A:
Paypal is my preferred method (my Paypal account is ron@ronhollingsworth.com).  Paypal also gives you the flexibility to pay using a credit card. You may also use Venmo or Zelle using my email address of ron@ronhollingsworth.com.  I also accept checks or money orders.  Please note that an additional $30 fee will be applied to any returned check (the bank charges me, so unfortunately I have to charge you).  And, sorry, but I am a Luddite when it comes to all things related to crypto, so I do not accept bitcoin or any other type of crypto currency.
Q:
Do you require payment up front?
A:

For new customers having projects with rates above $1000, I normally ask for a 50% down payment in advance once you have indicated your desire to use me on your project. HOWEVER, THIS PAYMENT IS FULLY REFUNDABLE SHOULD I NOT COMPLETE YOUR PROJECT TO YOUR SATISFACTION. I am far more interested in your complete satisfaction and repeat interest in using me in your future projects than I am in absconding with your deposit.

The rest will be due and payable net 30 days from the invoice date, which will also be the date of delivery of the final audio file(s). If your company happens to use a different payable schedule, just let me know ahead of time and we’ll work something out.

Q:
How do you send out invoices for services provided?
A:
I send invoices via email or by regular mail, if you prefer that.
Q:
Do you offer Royalty-free music?
A:
I have royalty-free music which I can provide and mix with your project for an additional fee.
Q:
What delivery methods can you use?
A:
That depends on your needs. Smaller files can be easily e-mailed to you. Larger jobs may require a different approach, such as FTP or a Dropbox type delivery. I also have Source Connect available for those who prefer to listen in to my recording session and record my work directly.  I normally deliver files in MP3 format.  However, I can deliver your files in whatever format you desire.  If you have specific delivery needs, just let me know.
Q:
The copy is rather technical and we’d prefer to find someone with a scientific background, would you be able to do it?
A:
I get this question every so often and I’m happy to say that I can definitely help you if you need a voiceover talent with a technical background. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Mathematics, as well as over 25 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, marketing and sales, including website design and development, search engine marketing and search engine optimization. I also have over 7 years experience in medical related fields, so I’m comfortable with almost every type of technical scripts I receive.
Q:
What if your voice is not what I’m looking for?
A:
This sometimes happens. While I’d love to provide the voiceover for your project, I know that no voice is the perfect fit for every project. That’s why I believe an audition using your script is a very important step in the process. In the event that my voice isn’t the one that you’re looking for with your project, I will withdraw with no hard feelings……but please keep me in mind for your next project…… 😃.
Q:
Do you require a contract?
A:
Not on smaller projects unless you prefer to have one in place. Even for larger projects (those exceeding $1,000), while I don’t make it a requirement, I think a contract is appropriate to ensure each of us understands and agrees with the terms and conditions of our collaboration. We can use your agreement or mine. Mine is all in 12 point type and isn’t very long.
